Certess DCN is one of several vacuum
coatings engineered by HEF.
- Low coefficient of friction
- Excellent wear resistance
- Self-lubricating
- Low application temperature
Certess DCN carbon-hydrogen based PVD coating has a
chromium-nitrogen under-layer. The structure is dense,
amorphous carbon over dense, nanocoating-scaled grains of CrN.
Certess DCN vacuum coatings are chemically inert, and won’t alter part dimensions. Deposited films are 2 to 4 µm; hardness is 1000 to 3200 HV.
Certess DCN PVD coatings are chemically inert, and do not alter
part dimensions. Deposited films are 1 to 3 µm, tailored to the application;
hardness is 1000 to 3200 HV. Often, the physical properties provided
by this and other HEF vacuum coatings improves component performance
so that there is greater flexibility in the choice of a substrate, and
opportunities for substantial savings in material cost, and energy.
Ideal applications for Certess DCN vacuum coatings include
mechanical parts that experience abrasive wear and high levels of
kinetic friction, such as bearings, pumps, gears, compressors,
and heavily loaded contacts as typically found in automotive
valve train and injection components.
